Description
Child birth. Animation showing the first two of the three stages of childbirth. The first stage is the dilation (opening) of the cervix, the neck of the uterus (womb). When fully dilate the cervix has a diameter of approximately 10 centimetres. During the second stage the baby descends, head-first, into the vagina (birth canal). During delivery the baby rotates in order to ease its shoulders through the vagina. The final stage of childbirth is the delivery of the placenta.
